Job Description:
The Town of Brighton is seeking a skilled and motivated Full-Time Road Crew Member to join our Highway Department. This role is vital in ensuring the safety, maintenance, and functionality of our town’s roads and infrastructure. Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate town vehicles and heavy equipment, including snowplows, dump trucks, and loaders
Perform routine road maintenance tasks such as grading, ditching, and resurfacing
Conduct winter maintenance, including snow plowing, sanding, and de-icing
Maintain road signs and guardrails, ensuring safety and visibility
Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment
Assist with emergency response efforts during inclement weather or other emergencies
Support other public works activities as needed
All other duties as assigned within the scope of work
Qualifications:
Required:
Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Experience in road maintenance and heavy equipment operation
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, comply with ongoing random drug and alcohol testing, and complete a background check prior to hiring.
Preferred:
Experience with winter road maintenance, including snow plowing and sanding
Familiarity with minor vehicle and equipment repair
Basic computer skills for email, Microsoft Excel, and Word
